Supplies: Flashlight, paper, tape
Preparation: Roll up some tape and put it inside the flashlight, replacing the batteries. Keep the batteries on hand.
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: God makes us new!
Illustration: Walk up to the front and show the kids the flashlight. Ask them what you use a flashlight for. That’s right! To see in the dark! Now try to turn on the flashlight (obviously it will not work because there is paper inside it instead of batteries). Try a few times and wonder allowed what the problem is. Ask the kids if they can think of what the problem may be. Now open up the flashlight and reveal the paper on the inside. Well there is the problem! A flashlight can’t run on paper, it needs batteries like these (replace the batteries and turn on the flashlight).
Explanation: This is similar to how a lot of people are today. On the outside they may look good, but the inside needs to be made new by God for them to be all they can be. Without batteries a flashlight cannot be used for its true purpose. When we hand lives to God it is like we allow Him to take the paper out of us and replace it with batteries! We are made new!

Object Lesson | Napkins
Source (Where I saw it): Original
Supplies: Napkins, something dirty to wipe.
Preparation: None.
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: Jesus took our punishment!
Illustration: Come to the front and show the boys and girls the napkins. Ask if anyone has ever used one of these. Hopefully you have! Napkins help you stay clean right? Now I know some of you use your sleeve, or hand, or your siblings shirt, but we are supposed to use a napkin. The napkin can wipe away the dirt or food that is making us a mess and make us clean. The napkin takes all that mess and puts it on itself.
Explanation: Our saving relationship with Jesus is very much the same. Jesus took our dirt and mess which is sin and wiped us clean. The Bible tells us that Jesus took all the bad things we have done a wiped them away when He died on the cross and rose again. The great thing is that all we have to do is to ask Jesus to forgive us and we can have a relationship with God! Jesus helped make us clean so we could stand before God!

Object Lesson | Sand Mix
Source (Where I saw it): Original
Supplies: Different color craft sand and a see through (glass or clear plastic) bowl.
Preparation: None.
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: God is always with us.
Illustration: Come to the front and show the boys and girls the sand. Ask them how many have ever made anything with these different color sands before. You can make all sorts of different things with the craft sand. Now once you mix the different colors can you separate them and start over (At this point actually mix the two colors into the bowl)? No! It would be almost impossible to fully separate the sand.
Explanation: It is the same way with us and God. Once we give our hearts to God, there is no separating us from Him. God will never leave us, and will always be there to help us. God sticks with us no matter what. It is why we don’t need to be afraid and can always know we can count on God even if other people let us down.

Supplies: A bunch of candy.
Preparation: None.
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: We need to give what we have!
Illustration: Come to the front and show the boys and girls all the candy you have. Ask them who likes candy. Explain that with all the candy that you have there is no way you could eat it all. You would get sick! So instead of getting sick you thought it would be good to share it with others.
Explanation: In the same way we need to share what God has done for us with other people. God’s love and salvation is way to big for just one person. God wants everyone to experience His love! It would be selfish of us not to share it with all those around us. That’s how we become a witness, by sharing what God has done for us with others!

Supplies: A couple of pieces of candy or prizes.
Preparation: None
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: We need to ask God for forgiveness!
Illustration: Walk up to the front, sit in a chair or on the table, and hold up the couple of prizes. Tell the boys and girls that you have some prizes here. Now do one of two things:
1.If someone raises their hand and asks for a prize, or even calls out and asks for one then give it to them.
2. If no one raises their hand, or asks for one, then say, “Well, I guess no one wanted one, I’m gonna go put them away now.” Then put them into the prize box and lock it up.
Explanation of point: You see boys and girls, the whole point of this is that God has offered us forgiveness and salvation, but it is up to us to accept it. God wants to save us, He even sent His son to die for us! But unless we ask God to forgive us, then we are missing out on all that God has for us including eternal life!

Object Lesson | Treasure Box
Source (Where I saw it): Original
Supplies: Prizes (Like a prize box, store, or whatever you use for positive reinforcement), Cup, Table
Preparation: None
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: There is nothing we can do to fix our relationship with God.
Illustration: Have a table up front with a cup on it. Now ask for a volunteer. Tell the volunteer that if they can knock over that cup without moving, talking, or doing anything, then they get the prize. Of course no one will be able to do this. Have a few volunteers try. Some one will obviously try to cheat, but say that is not possible. At some point for one of the kids you go over and knock the cup over and give them the prize.
Explanation of point: The point boys and girls is that without me knocking that cup over there is no way for you to get that prize. You were stuck and helpless to receive the reward. When Adam and Eve sinned there was a huge gap between us and God. We where stuck, helpless to fix what we had broken. We no longer could have a relationship with God. But God had a plan and sent His son to die for us. Jesus died on the cross and then 3 days later rose from the grave! The disciples went to the tomb and it was empty! Now it is up to us to accept the gift God has given us - a relationship with Him!

Preparation: None
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: Jesus is our connection to God!
Illustration: Show the kids the cellphone. Ask the kids what it is and what it is used for. Of course the kids will say it is a cellphone and you use it to talk to people. Now tell the kids something like this, "That's right, this is a cell phone, and we use it to connect to people. We can talk to them and see how they are doing, and we can even talk to people that are really far away. Now can I use this cell phone without the battery? Of course not! Without the battery I can not connect to anyone. You see boys and girls, Jesus is like the battery for our lives. When we ask Jesus to be our best friend we can connect with God. Jesus makes it so we can have a relationship with God and spend eternity with him in heaven. The big difference is that unlike a battery, Jesus never has to be recharged!"

Object Lesson | Paper Tear/Change Bag
Source (Where I saw it): Everywhere... The change bag is a must for children's ministry, with endless possibilities.
Supplies: 2 pieces of paper, change bag
Preparation: In one of the compartments of the change bag put one of the sheets of paper in it.
The object lesson & how I used it...
Main Point: God wants to make us whole!
Illustration: Have a sheet of paper. Hold it up for all the kids to see. Explain to everyone that this is how God intended us to be - whole and clean. When sin came into the world it tore us to pieces, but God had a plan, and that plan was Jesus! Jesus is God’s son, and when Jesus came and died for us, he created a way for us to be whole again. When we ask God to forgive us he takes all those pieces of our life and puts them back together. (At this point, you put the pieces in the change bag, flip the switch and pull out the other whole sheet.)
If you don't have a change bag, here is one to check out at amazon, it has a zipper on the bottom for extra coolness: Change Bag W/ Zipper
